1950 Wolverine, Mystery Motor Express Bus No. 2 in Original Box

1950 Wolverine, Mystery Motor Express Bus No. 2 in Original Box

Superb mint in box store stock steel litho bus with automatic winding keyless motor. Never played with. Only recently removed from its box for the first time. Slightly scarcer green and red version (blue and red is a little easier to find).

Wonderful 1950's design shows passengers and drivers from different window perspectives. Quality construction with folded, rolled metal edges, steel axles, and solid maple wooden wheels. Features Wolverine's patented "mystery motor". As noted in the 1951 version of the Sears Roebuck Christmas catalog, "press down on top, remove hand, mystery motor bus speeds away across the room under its own power. Amusement plus amazement for the kiddies." Originally sold for 89¢.

Original single color box has several illustrations of the bus from the left front corner perspective. Small insert shows a totally entranced, happy kid letting his magic bus go. Endflaps show front portrait of the bus. The operating instructions were printed on the underside.

Size: 14" x 4¾" x 5".
